About the club

The club was formed in 1984 and is the oldest Friendship Force club in the northwest corner of the United States of America. Its membership varies between thirty-five and fifty, with singles and families. Many are retirees and have lots of time to spend with their guests. Although people come from throughout the greater Seattle Tacoma metropolitan area and its suburbs, our socials and active programs help maintain a strong sense of community in the club.

About the region

We are between the jagged Olympic Mountains to the west and the volcanic peaks of the Cascade range to the east. Expect evergreen forests, racing rivers, rainforests, frozen glaciers, a rugged Pacific coast, Mount Rainier, and the San Juan Islands. Most of the state’s population is here in Puget Sound. Seattle is home to Amazon, Microsoft, Expedia and other “high tech” companies. Seattle is an outdoors city, clean and young as cities go. There’s water everywhere and greenery abounds. So much so that Seattle is nicknamed “The Emerald City.”

About the Journey

We have a welcoming and a farewell activity and usually small group dinners. In addition we provide a mix of individual host and group activities based upon ambassador interests. Possibilities are limitless: the Seattle Center with the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass; the International District, Boeing Museum of Flight, Pike Place Market, ship locks at Ballard with migrating salmon in season, San Juan Islands, Mt. Rainier, many museums as well as wineries and breweries. We have so much to do that Host Coordinators must plan closely to provide the most interesting Journey for their particular group. Unfortunately, the Seattle area is not inexpensive, so the cost to incoming ambassadors is often about $150 to $200, depending on activities. We enjoy being good hosts, good guests, and understanding friends.
